I have a special interest in teaching the adult student, whether a beginner, or returning to piano study after a lapse of time. My approach based on natural coordination, and makes use of the body in the most efficient manner. This fosters ease in playing, avoids strain that can be associated with playing the piano especially in adults, and enhances the joy of making music.
A variety of repertoire is assigned based on the needs and interests of the students. There are playing classes for adults, where they assemble roughly four times yearly and play for one another in a supportive environment. This is not mandatory. In addition, I discuss various aspects of piano playing and piano literature where all can benefit. There is also a recital at the end of the year, and again, participation is encouraged, but not required.
